ABOUT US

Who are we, and what are we doing here?

We are a party that has been created to address what we consider to be serious problems with the way our society is heading. We see more and more examples of core fundamentals of our way of life being changed, in ways that make absolutely no sense.

Why name the party "The Right Party"?

We know that many traditional, moderate and sensible views are now being attacked as being "far-right" or extreme - simply for holding opinions that are self evident and rational. Fact is, we think that our positions are completely correct, so we will just accept being called "right" by the mainstream media, but all of our messaging will focus on the other meaning of "right" - correct. Someone who is described as "right wing" is traditionally understood to be politically conservative, and there is nothing wrong with that. But these days the term “right-wing” is often used as an insult. We want to redefine the meaning of the term in politics.

Another reason for the name is for marketing purposes. We need to have a name that will jump out at people and cause a reaction. The people who want to push an extreme progressive agenda are unlikely to join us anyway. The Right Party is a name that neatly and quickly conveys our message.

Finally, and importantly, our platform is built on the preservation of the fundamental rights of individuals in society. We want to put these rights at the centre of policy development and ensure that they are always protected. Freedom of speech, of thought, conscience and religion are essential. So too, the right to private property and the right to privacy. We believe that many of these freedoms and rights are under constant threat from global and far left agendas.

Why now?

Recent reforms to the WA electoral act have made it nearly impossible for independent members of parliament to get elected, and although there are some parties out there that probably share some of our views, we don't think there is a clear simple alternative that can represent the views of the sensible, and often disenfranchised, citizen. The result of introducing a whole of state electorate for the upper house in WA means that there is a real risk of the Greens holding the balance of power, further dragging the status quo towards progressive collectivism and away from the moderate majority. We want to provide a counterweight to that.

Why should I sign up for the Right party?

Our view is that the sometimes lack of clear communication, and the fear of being maligned, leads to a suppression of straightforward and honest political discourse. The sad reality is that people are often disengaged with politics, and as soon as you go into too much detail, people switch off. This is how many public figures have been so successfully maligned - their opposition simply throws around labels like "far-right" and "extreme", repeatedly and endlessly. This is why to combat the attack on those views, we need to stick to our core messaging, and not get distracted. We will just keep repeating that we indeed consider our principles to be "right", and rely on the fact we know our statements cannot be challenged on any rational basis.

We are only going to stand for what we have stated, we are not planning to expand on the message or get side-tracked by personal agendas. The aim of this party is to get sensible and responsible, true representatives of the people elected to the next WA parliament.

  • We need 500 people before January 31, 2024 to sign up to become members, so please, if you agree we are heading in the wrong direction as a society, join The Right Party.
